Remora is a venture-backed climate tech company building modular carbon capture systems that convert exhaust into beverage-grade CO₂ for breweries and greenhouses. The company has raised over $115 million from top-tier investors including Lowercarbon Capital, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, and Valor Equity Partners. The business model focuses on deploying systems in regions with severe CO₂ shortages, generating high margins without relying on tax or carbon credits.
The Commissioning Manager will lead the startup, commissioning, testing, and operational handoff of Remora's modular carbon capture systems as the company scales from initial commercial deployment to a growing fleet. This is a hands-on leadership role that bridges Engineering, Controls, Field Service, Project Management, and Operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the commissioning process from mechanical completion through startup, performance validation, and handoff to Operations
- Developing and maintaining commissioning plans, procedures, checklists, test protocols, acceptance criteria, and documentation
- Leading onsite startup and commissioning activities for mechanical, electrical, controls, instrumentation, and process systems
- Coordinating commissioning schedules and resources across Engineering, Project Management, Operations, contractors, vendors, and customer sites
- Leading troubleshooting of complex system issues during startup and commissioning, driving problems through root-cause identification and resolution
- Verifying equipment installation, controls functionality, instrumentation, interlocks, alarms, and safety systems prior to startup
- Executing and documenting system performance testing to confirm equipment meets defined operational and engineering requirements
- Identifying commissioning risks and issues early and developing mitigation plans to protect deployment schedules
- Partnering with Engineering to improve system reliability, maintainability, operability, and ease of commissioning
- Building standardized commissioning processes that allow Remora to efficiently deploy multiple systems in parallel
The role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and can scale processes as the company grows. Remora values uncompromising honesty, exceptional treatment of people, joyful curiosity, and relentless execution.
REQUIREMENTS:

- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, and instrumentation systems
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and drive root-cause analysis
- Experience developing commissioning procedures, test protocols, and acceptance criteria
- Project management and coordination skills across multiple teams and external stakeholders
- Safety-focused mindset with experience managing safety systems and interlocks
- Ability to work onsite at customer deployment locations
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
