Salary: USD 160,000 - 212,500 / annual

Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The company is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join the global Deal Desk within the Commercial Legal team, based in San Francisco. In this role, you will be responsible for negotiating customer-facing contracts, primarily focused on platform and franchise customers. You will draft comprehensive negotiation playbooks, train commercial colleagues on agreement sales, advise on contract interpretation, manage early-stage customer disputes, and handle general commercial matters. This is a position for a counsel who thrives in fast-moving, complex environments with strong commercial acumen and sophisticated legal expertise. Key responsibilities include: - Provide strategic legal advice across sales, account management, product, and regulatory teams globally - Draft, review, and negotiate complex, multi-jurisdictional commercial agreements for payment, data, and financial services products - Proactively identify and mitigate emerging legal and operational risks - Advise on early-stage customer disputes and complex legal interpretations - Drive legal automation efforts to scale the team and improve contracting efficiency - Work autonomously in cross-functional teams - Build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the company - Participate in training commercial colleagues globally Requirements: - 5+ years of legal experience (in-house or law firm) - Strong commercial contracting and/or transactional experience - Ability to collaborate with legal counsels across US, LATAM, EMEA, and APAC jurisdictions - Excellent people skills and ability to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders - Autonomous work style with business ownership mentality - Curiosity and commitment to professional growth - Self-motivated, driven, reliable, adaptable, and detail-oriented - Experience educating others on complex ideas and providing training - Ability to structure, prioritize, and drive work to completion in high-volume, fast-paced environments - Available to work from San Francisco office with periodic travel to other offices - Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages a plus
