Salary: USD 160,000 - 212,500 / annual

Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. You will join the global Deal Desk within the Commercial Legal team, based in New York. As Commercial Counsel, you will be responsible for negotiating customer-facing contracts, primarily focused on enterprise customers. You will draft comprehensive negotiation playbooks, train commercial colleagues on selling agreements, advise on contract interpretation, manage early-stage customer disputes, and handle general commercial legal matters. Key Responsibilities: • Provide strategic legal advice across sales, account management, product, and regulatory teams globally • Draft, review, and negotiate complex, multi-jurisdictional commercial agreements for payment, data, and financial services products • Proactively identify and mitigate emerging legal and operational risks • Advise on early-stage customer disputes and complex legal interpretations • Drive legal automation efforts to improve contracting efficiency and scalability • Work autonomously in a cross-functional manner across multiple jurisdictions (US, LATAM, EMEA, APAC) • Build strong relationships with colleagues, leaders, and stakeholders • Participate in training commercial colleagues globally This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-moving, complex environment, is commercially-minded, and can leverage sophisticated legal expertise and strong communication skills to accelerate Adyen's global growth. Requirements: • 5+ years of legal experience (in-house or law firm) • Strong commercial contracting and/or transactional experience • Ability to collaborate with legal counsels across multiple jurisdictions (US, LATAM, EMEA, APAC) • Team player with strong collaboration and people skills • Ability to work autonomously and manage work independently • Curious, detail-oriented, self-motivated, driven, reliable, and adaptable • Experience educating others on complex legal ideas and providing training • Ability to structure, prioritize, and drive work to completion in high-volume, fast-paced environments • Available to work from New York office with periodic travel to other offices • Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages a plus
