Viktor is an AI employee product that lives in Slack and Microsoft Teams, connecting to thousands of tools and performing real work across finance, marketing, operations, and engineering. The company is building a product designed to replace significant portions of the SaaS stack. You will be Viktor's first dedicated legal hire, reporting to the CFO (Raje). This is a hands-on commercial counsel role focused on the legal work that enables Viktor to do business. You will own commercial contracts under US law, AI-specific contracting issues, practical data protection, and coordination with external counsel for matters outside your scope. Key responsibilities include: - Review, draft, and negotiate customer, supplier, and partner agreements under US law, including SaaS terms, order forms, NDAs, and Data Processing Agreements. Provide clear recommendations and remain involved through signature or resolution. - Own AI-specific contracting challenges: data use and training, output ownership, liability, and warranties. These are novel issues that most templates do not address, requiring judgment in live negotiations with customers, suppliers, and partners. - Lead legal readiness for enterprise deals and diligence. Maintain usable contract templates, negotiation positions, and an organized contract archive. - Translate regulatory and specialist data-protection advice into actionable items with clear owners and deadlines. - Manage external counsel relationships: briefs, budgets, advice coordination across US, Polish, and German jurisdictions. - Support fundraising and corporate transactions. Help Finance maintain records, approvals, filing deadlines, and regulatory compliance across multiple entities. Corporate affairs are secondary. - Improve legal intake, drafting, and tracking using approved AI tools with human review. In your first 90 days, you will own active commercial matters through signature or resolution with visible status and risks; establish a core set of contract templates and negotiation positions covering commercial and AI/data issues; create a prioritized legal-readiness action list for enterprise reviews and data protection; and establish a practical external-counsel workflow. The role combines commercial judgment with routine drafting, obligation tracking, and administrative follow-through across a cross-border business. You will ship your first week and talk to users your first day. This is a rare opportunity to build the first dedicated legal function at an early-stage, venture-backed company and shape how it develops as enterprise and cross-border demands grow. REQUIREMENTS: - Admitted to practice in a US state with hands-on experience drafting and negotiating US-law commercial contracts. You must be able to name specific agreements you personally handled. - Commercial judgment: ability to distinguish material business risk from drafting preference and propose workable alternatives. - End-to-end ownership of matters: negotiation, resolution, obligation tracking, administrative follow-through, and early escalation. Understanding of post-signature obligations. - Ability to run the US-law core and coordinate other jurisdictions (especially EU), knowing the limits of your expertise and when to bring in local or specialist counsel. - Precise written and spoken English with customers, founders, and advisers. Organized, discreet, and proactive. Desirable qualifications: - GDPR familiarity, B2B software or AI experience, AI/data contracting. - Venture-backed company and financing round experience. - Multi-entity or cross-border corporate management. - Enterprise procurement and security review experience.
