Pelago Health is a specialty substance use care provider that matches treatment intensity to individual member needs. The company has scaled to serve hundreds of employers and health plans, helping over 750,000 members manage substance use. Pelago recently launched Sona, a voice-first AI Mental Health Specialist, combining clinical expertise with technology to expand access to mental health care.
As Clinical Quality Program Manager, you will lead clinical quality and accreditation readiness for Pelago's care programs. This is a high-ownership role that shapes the quality function as it grows.
Key responsibilities include:
- Co-lead the Quality and Safety Committee with the Credentialing, Licensing & Quality Operations Manager: prepare meetings, translate discussions into clear decisions with assigned owners, and track follow-through.
- Own clinical readiness for Joint Commission accreditation, including required policies, mock audits, corrective action on gaps, and serving as the clinical point of contact during surveys.
- Translate Joint Commission and regulatory requirements into practical guidance that clinical managers and care teams can implement.
- Run structured audits of clinical documentation, reasoning, protocol adherence, and member interactions against Pelago standards, maintaining integrity and confidentiality.
- Deliver audit reports to managers with actionable patterns and recommendations, not just observations.
- Identify systemic gaps when recurring issues emerge; propose updates to policy, tooling, training, or process with clinical, product, and operations partners; and validate that changes improved outcomes.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements to keep all policies grounded and compliant.
You will work closely with clinical managers, the Credentialing, Licensing & Quality Operations Manager, and product and operations teams. This is a full-time remote position open to candidates located in the United States.
Requirements:
- 3+ years in clinical quality, compliance, or auditing, including hands-on experience running clinical audits, managing a quality program, and/or preparing for accreditation or regulatory surveys (Joint Commission, CARF, or similar).
- Active, unrestricted clinical license in good standing (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, RN, or licensed psychologist).
- Familiarity with substance use disorder (SUD), mental health, or broader behavioral health care.
- Proven ability to work independently: take a task, run it, and return with clear findings without hands-on management throughout.
- Strong written communication; audit findings, committee summaries, policy documents, and accreditation materials depend on clarity.
- Organized and accountable: track your own follow-through and others' without waiting to be reminded.
- Comfort with ambiguity and iteration; this role will help define its own scope over time.
Nice-to-have skills:
- Hands-on experience with Joint Commission standards, accreditation surveys, or healthcare regulatory compliance.
- Experience with telehealth, distributed care teams, or virtual clinical programs.
- Experience using AI tools to improve clinical documentation, auditing, or quality workflows.
