Fluidstack is building civilization-scale AI compute infrastructure at unprecedented speed and scale. The company acquires power, designs and builds data centers, and operates them across hardware and software teams. The mission is to deploy frontier compute infrastructure faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack.
The Data Center Design Team is responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of 10s to 100s of GWs of data centers this decade, driving next-generation liquid cooling and electrical distribution systems, developing modular data centers, and influencing behind-the-meter designs for multi-GW campuses.
As a Civil Engineering Designer, you will produce complete civil drawing sets for data center site development, including grading, drainage, erosion control, utilities, and site plans—from engineer redlines through issued-for-construction documents. You will turn drawing revisions around within a day during permitting and construction phases when submittal dates or open RFIs are pending. You will build and maintain civil CAD standards (templates, layers, detail libraries) to ensure consistency across all sites and give each new project a head start. You will coordinate civil sheets against structural and architectural models to identify and resolve clashes before they impact field work. You will also prepare permit exhibits, plats, and agency-requested revisions to keep submittals moving without diverting engineers from design work.
The role operates within a culture of full autonomy ("be a barrel"), insane urgency, first-principles reasoning, and ownership of end-to-end scope. Long hours at high intensity are expected as the team pushes the frontier of AI infrastructure forward.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated experience drafting civil construction documents in Civil 3D or AutoCAD that were issued for construction and actually built from
- Hands-on experience building surfaces, grading, corridors, and pipe networks in Civil 3D from survey data to finished sheets
- Proven ability to turn engineer redlines into finished sheets on same-day deadlines while maintaining set consistency
- Meticulous attention to detail: callouts resolve, matchlines align, every referenced detail exists
- Experience meeting critical deadlines where missed submittals slip permits
- Experience setting up or maintaining CAD standards that other drafters followed
- Bonus qualifications: data center, industrial, or utility-scale solar site work; Revit or Navisworks coordination; survey data processing; permit exhibit and plat preparation; erosion control and SWPPP drawing experience
