Bedrock Robotics is deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction equipment across the country. As the first Training & Certification Lead, you will build the learning and development function from the ground up, owning how internal teams and external partner crews learn to work safely and productively with Bedrock's autonomous systems. You will set the vision, roadmap, and success metrics for L&D across the company. Your primary responsibilities include designing and launching "Bedrock Certified," a structured certification program that qualifies operators to run autonomous systems and becomes a recognized credential in the construction industry. You'll own the L&D budget, resourcing plan, and vendor relationships, partnering closely with Operations, Safety, Engineering, and Product leaders. For internal teams (field operations, site operators, technicians, remote assistants, new hires), you will design onboarding and role-based learning paths, build hands-on technical curriculum for autonomous heavy equipment (system setup, task planning, monitoring, troubleshooting, safe intervention), and turn software releases and SOP changes into training updates quickly. You'll also introduce leadership and manager development as the company scales. For external partners, you will design certification standards (prerequisites, curriculum covering safety, system operation, site setup, plan interpretation, troubleshooting), field assessments, and recertification requirements. You'll build train-the-trainer programs so certified partner leads can qualify their own crews and ensure partner teams are trained and certified before and after each site launch. You will embed safety-critical practices, OSHA requirements, and Bedrock SOPs in every program, keep training materials and SOPs accurate and under version control, and track competency, certification status, time-to-productivity, and safety outcomes to continuously improve programs. Success means Bedrock Certified is launched with repeatable scaling, every internal and partner team member is qualified before operating systems, new hires and crews reach productivity faster, training keeps pace with product releases, and partners view Bedrock training as best-in-class. REQUIREMENTS: - 3–5 years in learning and development or technical training, including experience leading a training function with people and budget responsibility - Experience building technical training for safety-critical or regulated operations (heavy equipment, construction, industrial, transportation, or robotics) - Track record of designing and running certification or qualification programs that determine who is allowed to do the work - Experience building train-the-trainer programs and managing external training partners or vendors - Strong command of instructional design, adult learning principles, and assessing competency - Hands-on learning management administration and reporting experience with a data-driven approach to measuring results - Ability to influence senior leaders and work across Operations, Safety, Engineering, and Product - Willingness to travel 30%+ to job sites and training locations PREFERRED: - Background in construction, heavy civil, or heavy equipment operations, and knowledge of OSHA regulations - Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, or advanced construction technology - Experience building customer- or partner-facing training, including programs that generate revenue - Experience building an L&D function at a hyper-growth startup - Leadership development and coaching experience - Familiarity with LMS systems and approaches - Familiarity with simulation, video, or AR/VR training tools
