Growth Platform is an AI-native marketing platform unifying DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo's customer data, intelligence, and execution capabilities. You will join a backend engineering team at the forefront of agentic coding and AI-first development. This is not about using AI for boilerplate autocomplete—it's about designing workflows where AI agents handle entire task loops from spec to production review, orchestrating human oversight with agent ownership, and building internal tooling that makes AI-assisted development faster and more reliable for the whole team.
As a Backend Engineer, you will own features end-to-end from conception through production, seeing your work matter at scale across three major delivery brands reaching millions of users daily. You'll work at the intersection of backend systems, data, ML, and product, collaborating across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo to unify customer data and streamline execution. The role emphasizes real ownership, real impact, and the ability to ship leverage—when you get it right, wins scale across all three brands instead of being rebuilt separately.
The team values engineers who naturally ask "can an agent do this?" before reaching for the keyboard, who stay curious about emerging models and tools, and who form strong opinions about what's genuinely useful versus hype. You'll be expected to experiment with AI agents and agentic coding workflows, redesign your development loop from first principles, and push the boundaries of what a focused team can ship with AI as a core engineering discipline.
Requirements:
- Strong engineering fundamentals: you've built and shipped software that runs at scale, understanding testing, observability, reliability, and maintainability
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI-first development; you use AI tools daily and have formed real opinions about maximizing their value
- Ownership mentality: you drive projects forward, communicate clearly across teams and time zones, and take initiative without waiting to be told what to do
- Collaborative instincts: you work naturally across backend, data, ML, and product disciplines
- Proven track record shipping real software (products, platforms, APIs, apps) with production reliability experience
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills with genuine care for product outcomes alongside code quality
