Foxglove is a data platform for Physical AI, helping robotics teams across automotive, aerospace, defense, logistics, and other industries collect, organize, and learn from multimodal robotics data. As a Backend Engineer in a Forward Deployed role, you will work directly with robotics customers in Korea, serving as both engineer and technical partner.
You will own end-to-end projects to help Korean robotics teams adopt and scale Foxglove solutions. Your responsibilities include:
- Conduct technical meetings with customer engineering teams in Korean and English to understand their goals, constraints, and needs.
- Design and build full-stack solutions using TypeScript/React, Node.js, Python, ROS, SQL, and/or Rust, delivered in small, tested increments.
- Write clear project scopes, timelines, and success criteria from proof of concept through production deployment.
- Deploy solutions in customer cloud, on-premises, and offline environments, including sites with no internet access.
- Install, update, and maintain software at customer sites; write runbooks and operational documentation.
- Train customer teams and create technical documentation in both Korean and English.
- Collaborate with Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Customer Success teams on shared accounts.
- Gather customer insights and feedback to inform product roadmap and internal engineering practices.
- Contribute to internal libraries and documentation to support the Forward Deployed team's work with Korean customers.
This role requires comfort with significant travel (up to 50%, including to Korea) and the ability to work independently while coordinating with a team 16–17 hours ahead. You will occasionally work on-site at customer locations.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Fluent in Korean and English, both spoken and written.
- Proven experience running technical meetings with customer engineers and translating their requests into scoped work.
- Track record of rapid prototyping and step-by-step delivery with external stakeholders.
- Backend engineering experience in Node.js, Python, or Rust; frontend experience in React/TypeScript. C++ is a plus.
- Proficiency with Docker and experience deploying/supporting software on networks without internet access.
- Ability to make sound technical judgments and create usable solutions without a dedicated designer.
- Comfortable working independently with asynchronous team coordination across significant time zones.
- Willingness to work on-site with customers in Korea as needed.
- Comfort with up to 50% travel, including to Korea.
- Bonus: robotics, industrial automation experience, or prior deployed/field engineering role.
