Qashier is a venture-backed startup building an operating system for SMEs across Southeast Asia, combining POS, payments, and financial services into a single integrated platform. The company's Qashier SuperTerminal is a cloud-based POS device that helps merchants streamline operations and access integrated payment solutions.
In this Backend Engineer role, you will design, build, and maintain backend services powering the POS and payments platform. You'll develop scalable APIs and systems handling high-volume, real-time transactions, contribute to system architecture decisions, and write clean, maintainable code with strong testing practices (unit, integration, performance). You'll monitor and improve system performance, reliability, and scalability; troubleshoot production issues with root cause analysis; and collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver features end-to-end.
This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role focused on backend infrastructure and transaction processing at scale.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of backend software development experience
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language: Node.js, Go, or Python
- Experience designing and building scalable APIs and backend systems
- Solid understanding of databases (relational and/or NoSQL)
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile environment
