Astra is building mission-critical infrastructure for moving money at scale. The platform processes billions in annual transaction volume with 99.9%+ uptime, powering real-time transfers, bank debits, card disbursements, and complex financial compliance systems.
In this role, you will own features end-to-end across the financial systems that move real money every day. You'll design, build, test, and deploy backend features and services across payments, fraud detection, compliance, and user management, then run and monitor what you ship in production. You'll integrate with financial partners and APIs, building and maintaining connections with banks, card networks, and third-party services while handling the edge cases that money movement demands.
You'll contribute to technical design by writing and reviewing designs for your own work and participating in architecture discussions. The role involves improving performance and reliability across the microservices architecture, finding and fixing bottlenecks and failure modes, and helping raise the quality of tests and observability. You'll collaborate closely with product and compliance teams to turn business and regulatory requirements into working software.
Astra is remote-first, hiring only within the U.S., with a small engineering team where your work directly supports the company's ability to scale responsibly. The role offers a path to broader scope and technical leadership as the team grows.
