Anthropic is seeking an AV Engineer focused on Platform & Automation to build and own the software layer of the company's collaboration systems. This role bridges audiovisual engineering and software development, focusing on tools, integrations, and engineering practices that enable a small AV team to support a fast-growing global office portfolio. You will spend significant time writing, shipping, and operating production code. Key responsibilities include designing and building internal tools and integrations that monitor, test, and manage AV and collaboration systems across all offices; developing fleet health monitoring and automated room testing that catch failures proactively and open actionable tickets; building integrations across device and platform APIs including Q-SYS, Logitech Sync, Google Meet hardware, digital signage, and IT systems like Jira, Slack, PagerDuty, and Google Workspace; automating operational work such as provisioning, configuration baselines, drift detection, certificate renewal, and asset data management; owning administration and lifecycle of software platforms behind the AV estate, including firmware and software release management with staged rollouts and rollback plans; operating internal tools as production services with monitoring, alerting, service metrics, and runbooks; establishing the team's engineering practices around source control, code review, testing, CI/CD, and release; enabling AV Engineers, Operations Specialists, and Production staff to contribute safely through templates and guardrails; partnering with Security, IT Engineering, and Network teams on API access, secrets management, and enterprise standards; and gathering requirements from operations and events teams to prioritize the tooling roadmap. This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco or New York City, with 50% in-office expectation and up to 4 weeks of annual travel for platform rollouts and on-site testing. Business-hours escalation coverage is required for owned tools and platforms. REQUIREMENTS: - 10+ years of experience across AV, collaboration, or IT systems engineering - 4+ years writing, shipping, and maintaining production code that others depend on - Fluency in at least one general-purpose language: Python, Lua, Go, TypeScript, or similar; comfortable with shell scripting - Strong engineering fundamentals: Git-based workflows, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, logging, and observability - Understanding of how AV and collaboration systems work: DSP and control, conferencing platforms, room devices, signal flow, AV-over-IP - Experience building integrations against REST APIs, webhooks, and vendor SDKs; knowledge of auth, rate limits, pagination, retries, and partial failure handling - Ownership of tools or services in production over time, including fixing failures and clean handoffs - Experience defining engineering practices for teams, especially where most contributors aren't developers - Ability to turn operational pain into well-scoped tooling and say no to work that shouldn't be built - Thrives in fast-moving environments where standards are being written rather than inherited - Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience in a field relevant to the role STRONG ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE: - Q-SYS Lua scripting and plugin development - Logitech Sync, CollabOS, and Google Meet hardware administration - Google Workspace APIs, GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud Scheduler, Pub/Sub, Secret Manager), Terraform or infrastructure-as-code - Jira, Slack, PagerDuty APIs and automation - Crestron, Extron, or other control system programming - Dante, AES67, NDI, and network fundamentals for AV-over-IP - Building with LLMs, agentic automation, or MCP integrations - Prometheus, Grafana, and containerized deployment - Q-SYS Level 2, CTS, or equivalent demonstrated capability
