Salary: USD 270,000 - 410,000 / annual
Norm AI is an agentic law company that has pioneered Legal Engineering—a process enabling lawyers to build and supervise domain-specific AI agents using proprietary no-code software tools. The company's technology is deployed across many of the world's largest institutions, and Norm also operates Norm Law, LLP, an AI-native law firm serving leading institutions in private funds, private equity, venture capital, real estate, registered funds, and financial regulation.
As an Associate in the Technology Transactions group, you will work on high-impact IP and tech-focused deals, including standalone technology transactions and the IP/tech aspects of M&A, private equity, and ECVC transactions. You will use cutting-edge AI agents to streamline drafting, diligence, and execution processes while collaborating closely with partners, clients, and technology teams to transform how lawyers work and deliver legal services to world-leading institutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Document Drafting & Review: Leverage AI agents to generate, compare, and revise technology and IP transaction documents.
- Due Diligence: Use AI tools to conduct rapid document reviews, identify key terms, and generate client-facing diligence memos focused on IP and tech diligence.
- Deal Execution: Integrate AI agents into workflow management, signing and closing checklists, and coordination with counterparties.
- Client Advisory: Partner with clients to demonstrate how AI-assisted workflows improve accuracy, transparency, and deal velocity.
- Collaboration with Tech: Work closely with technology teams to continue making the deal process more efficient using AI.
The company expects all team members to be fluent in AI, actively using it in day-to-day work to support thinking, creation, and problem-solving. You should be prepared to demonstrate and discuss concrete examples of AI tools, workflows, and outcomes throughout the interview process.
Success milestones: Within 30 days, you will learn the firm's AI platforms and take an active role advising clients on matters and workflows. By 60 days, you will independently use AI agents to support your practice, including reviewing and generating transaction documentation and negotiations. By 90 days, you will lead AI-augmented workstreams in live transactions, applying focused legal judgment and skills using Norm AI technology to enhance quality, speed, and client service.
Work model is hybrid with an in-office expectation of 4–5 days per week in New York City.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent; admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 4+ years of law firm experience in Technology Transactions and/or IP Transactions as your primary practice.
- Substantive hands-on record of drafting and negotiating technology and IP agreements, with depth from doing this work at volume.
- Experience supporting the IP and Tech workstreams of M&A and private equity transactions.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills; meticulous attention to detail; and the ability to move matters forward.
- No prior AI experience required.
