Salary: USD 175,000 - 200,000 / annual
Setpoint is building infrastructure that powers credit relationships for the world's largest banks, credit funds, asset managers, and capital markets counterparties. The company provides a funding operating system for originators that verifies and stores documents, automates critical calculations and compliance reporting, and digitizes assets like homes or cars.
You will join the legal team as an Associate Counsel, reporting to the VP of Legal. In this role, you'll serve as both a trusted legal advisor and commercial partner, supporting Setpoint's growth by building scalable legal processes, negotiating complex agreements, and helping customers and partners navigate the evolving credit ecosystem.
Key responsibilities include:
- Work closely with the VP of Legal and Sales Team to oversee all legal aspects of customer documentation and capital markets technology products
- Draft and negotiate SaaS and other customer agreements
- Review and negotiate documentation in connection with the technology platform services and Capital Solutions team
- Keep up to speed with industry trends and legal and regulatory market changes
The ideal candidate brings expertise across capital markets, structured finance, and technology transactions, with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills. You should be an excellent communicator with strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment.
Setpoint closed a $31 million Series B in August 2024 led by 645 Ventures, with strategic investments from Citi, Wells Fargo, Andreessen Horowitz, NextView Ventures, and others. The company has offices in Austin, TX; New York City, NY; and Salt Lake City, UT, with hybrid roles expecting two days per week in office (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience drafting and negotiating a variety of capital markets and finance agreements and related documentation, including asset-backed facilities
- JD degree from a top-tier law school
- Admission to the New York bar in good standing
- Fintech experience and/or in-house experience at a bank or financial institution (preferred)
- Proficiency with AI tools (preferred)
- Ability to prioritize appropriately and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment
