Mistral is seeking Applied Scientists and Research Engineers focused on robotics to design, train, and deploy state-of-the-art robotics models including Vision Language Models (VLM) and Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models for navigation and manipulation tasks. You will work on diverse use cases and collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external science, engineering, and product teams to deliver high-impact AI solutions. Key responsibilities include: - Running pre-training, post-training, and deploying state-of-the-art models on large clusters - Generating and curating datasets (image-text, video-text) and building evaluators/benchmarks for perception, navigation, and manipulation tasks - Developing tools and frameworks to facilitate data generation, model training, evaluation, and deployment - Collaborating with cross-functional teams to tackle complex use cases - Managing research projects and communications with client research teams About Mistral: Mistral provides full-stack AI solutions from frontier models to developer tools, applications, and compute. Requirements: - Fluent English with excellent communication skills - Expert-level proficiency with PyTorch or JAX - Experience with Vision Language Models (VLM), Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models, perception, navigation, manipulation, and simulation tools (e.g., Isaac SIM) - Ability to write clean, readable, high-performance Python code - Track record of success through personal projects, professional projects, or academia - Low-ego, collaborative mindset with eagerness to learn - Self-directed execution without requiring detailed roadmaps Nice to have: - PhD or Master's degree in Robotics, Machine Learning, or related field - Research experience in robotics navigation, perception, or manipulation - Contributions to large open-source or industry codebases - Publications in top academic journals or conferences - Experience improving existing code through typing, tests, and CI pipelines
