Overview.ai is deploying GPU-powered AI computer vision systems on manufacturing production lines to solve inspection problems that traditional machine vision cannot address. The company operates a full-stack platform: edge-deployed cameras, on-device inference, and a cloud platform managing fleets of devices globally. In this role, you will own the mechanical integration of Overview.ai's camera, lens, and lighting systems into customer automation machines. You are a systems integrator who can evaluate machine designs, identify what will work reliably, anticipate failure modes, and guide machine builders toward robust, serviceable, scalable deployments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Mechanical Integration: - Own the complete mechanical integration of camera + lens + lighting into customer automation machines, including mounting design, stability, alignment, adjustability, service access, environmental protection, and cable routing. - Review machine builder CAD (2D/3D) and sign off on designs that meet Overview.ai integration standards. - Provide direct, practical feedback to machine builders before manufacturing to reduce vibration sensitivity, protect optics, ensure repeatable alignment, avoid thermal drift, and improve maintainability. - Specify integration requirements and best practices: mounting interfaces, bracket designs, tolerances, datum strategy, access clearances, protective enclosures, contamination management. - Anticipate and design out long-term failure modes: loosening fasteners, wear points, cable fatigue, lens contamination, shock/vibration, misalignment, fixture flex. - Ensure mechanical design supports stable triggering, repeatable imaging, and rapid service during commissioning. Field Applications Engineering: - Support new line deployments and maintain/optimize systems at customer sites. - Diagnose issues that appear AI-related but are actually mechanical or system integration problems: intermittent image quality, drift over time, vibration blur, occlusion, part presentation variability, contamination. - Train customer teams and machine builders on integration best practices and troubleshooting. - Document field learnings and convert them into repeatable standards, checklists, and reference designs. You will work on-site at customer factories, solve real production problems, and ensure systems deliver value daily. You'll collaborate with world-class AI, embedded, firmware, and product teams, and your field insights will directly influence product and deployment strategy. High travel and high autonomy are core to the role. REQUIREMENTS Required: - Strong mechanical/systems integration background in automation equipment or industrial machines. - Ability to read and review machine design CAD and provide actionable feedback (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or similar). - Experience integrating components into machines with attention to tolerances, alignment, vibration, serviceability, cabling, environmental protection, and repeatability. - Comfort working in factory environments: commissioning, troubleshooting, hands-on problem-solving. - Mandarin fluency (native or near-native). - Working English for technical collaboration with global teams. - High ownership mindset: you take problems personally and drive them to closure. Strong Preferences: - Experience with high-volume manufacturing lines (electronics, automotive, connectors, battery, packaging, assembly). - Experience working with machine builders/integrators and managing design iteration loops. - Comfort partnering with controls engineers on timing/triggering and line sequencing constraints.
