Robinhood is building the future of finance by democratizing access to investing. The Social team is launching a new product—a network where every trade is real and backed by real track records. The team is building features that help traders form real relationships around symbols, market moments, and creators worth following.
As an Android Engineer on the Social team, you will build and improve Android experiences that help customers engage with investing in more social, creator-driven, and content-rich ways. You will contribute to features across feed and sharing experiences, onboarding flows, and creator-facing surfaces. You'll partner closely with backend, web, product, design, and data teams to ship end-to-end experiences. The role emphasizes Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android architecture components, Gradle, and strong product-facing engineering fundamentals.
Key responsibilities:
- Work with a fast-growing team to revolutionize finance at speed and scale
- Build smooth, stable, and elegant products with Kotlin and the newest Android APIs
- Own features from inception to design, implementation, and launch
- Work cross-functionally with Product Designers, Product Managers, Backend Developers, and Data teams
- Use Kotlin, Android SDK & Jetpack Compose, MVVM, Coroutines & Flow (preferred) or RxJava, and Retrofit & Room
The team is based in the New York office with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional Android development experience building consumer Android applications at scale, preferably in Kotlin and Compose
- Proficiency in Kotlin or Java, and Jetpack
- Attention to detail and passion for writing clean, readable, and maintainable code
- Strong product sense and ability to collaborate with Product Managers and Designers
- Excellent communication skills and passion for solving technical challenges
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred; equivalent training or work experience also acceptable
