In Tandem builds family management technology across four brands: OurFamilyWizard, Cozi, FamilyWall, and Custody Navigator. As an Analytics Engineer in Finance & Modeling, you will own the metrics, reporting, and reconciliation that underpin financial decisions across the company's subscription and transaction data. You'll work with a modern data stack already in place: dbt on Databricks with a star-schema finance mart in production, documented in Unity Catalog. An internal AI agent answers business questions in Slack off the semantic layer. Your role is to build the layer on top—the governed metrics and reporting infrastructure that Finance can operate independently. Key responsibilities include: **Governed Metrics**: Define and version subscription metrics (ARR, renewal rate, churn, CAC) in dbt with comprehensive tests, documented in Unity Catalog, and wired into the Slack agent so Finance can query them directly. **Self-Service Reporting**: Migrate recurring finance reporting from manual Tableau builds into marimo, automating a monthly hand-build into a scheduled pipeline. **Reconciliation**: Reconcile transactions across app stores, payment processors, subscription systems, and the ledger. Build automated checks that alert on discrepancies, route evidence upstream, and convert each finding into a test. **Forecasting**: Build cohort subscriber and revenue projections, aggregate renewal and retention forecasts feeding CFO and board reporting. Model LTV by acquisition source for Growth's paid spend allocation. Model pricing and promo impact before launch. Ship models as scored tables in dbt with tests and lineage. You are statistically rigorous, fluent in finance, and unwilling to ship numbers you can't explain. You own metrics end-to-end from question through model, test, report, and stakeholder conversation. You view unreproducible spreadsheets as liabilities. You work daily with AI tools (Claude Code, coding agents, agent SDKs) and have internalized how they compress modeling work from weeks to afternoons. You're comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small team supporting four brands—some weeks deep in retention modeling, some weeks chasing data discrepancies or unblocking dashboards. You're motivated by work that impacts real families during important moments in their lives. **Requirements:** - 3+ years in analytics engineering, data science, BI engineering, or advanced analytics - Shipped statistical modeling into a business process: forecasting, survival analysis, cohort analysis, or propensity modeling - Experience measuring lift from price changes or growth experiments; ability to read results honestly and assess their value - Built and defended subscription metrics to finance stakeholders: ARR/MRR, renewal, churn, LTV/CAC, or cohort revenue - Strong SQL and real dimensional modeling (designed marts, not just queried them) - Python and Git as daily habits - Nice to have: dbt, Databricks and Unity Catalog or comparable lakehouse; reconciling transactional data to financial systems of record; code-first notebook reporting (marimo, Hex, Streamlit, Quarto)
