Astro Mechanica is a vertically integrated aerospace company developing scalable technology platforms for critical infrastructure and next-generation flight. Backed by leading venture and strategic investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Giant Step Capital, United Airlines Ventures, and Voyager Ventures, the company applies aerospace engineering and quality standards to deliver high-performance, reliable solutions for demanding operating environments.
You will help establish and scale Astro Mechanica's airframe manufacturing operations from the ground up, taking end-to-end ownership of manufacturing process development and structural hardware delivery. This is a hands-on role in a flat, engineering-driven culture where you'll work directly with manufacturing leaders to build a next-generation aircraft factory.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establishing and scaling manufacturing operations, including facilities, equipment, tooling, and processes
- Developing manufacturing processes from initial concept through production for complex structural assemblies
- Translating engineering designs and requirements into executable manufacturing plans
- Driving composite fabrication, structural assembly, and integration activities
- Continuously improving processes, tooling, workflows, and documentation
- Troubleshooting production issues and ensuring build quality alongside production teams
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers on manufacturing execution, quality, and scalability
You'll work in an interdisciplinary environment requiring seamless collaboration with design, production, quality, supply chain, and supporting teams. The role demands both strategic thinking about manufacturing scale and hands-on problem-solving.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in composite manufacturing, structural fabrication, or aerospace manufacturing
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes for complex structures and assemblies
- Strong understanding of composite materials, manufacturing methods, tooling, and assembly techniques
- Experience supporting new product development from initial design through completed hardware
- Experience establishing or scaling manufacturing operations
- Proficiency in CAD, engineering drawings, and design for manufacturability (DFM)
- Strong project management, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, and manufacturing software systems
- Experience with aircraft or spacecraft integration and large-scale structural assemblies
