Salary: EUR 65,000 - 75,000 / annual
Basalt is seeking an AI Engineer to build, evaluate, and scale AI capabilities powering their platform. You will work across the full lifecycle of AI agent development—from prototyping and prompt design through evaluation, deployment, and monitoring—ensuring customers can ship reliable, production-ready AI experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, implementing, and refining AI agent behaviors (prompting, tools, memory, reasoning loops)
- Building and maintaining RAG pipelines, retrieval strategies, and model integration layers
- Creating automated evaluation and monitoring systems to guarantee production reliability
- Developing internal tooling to help teams prototype, test, and improve agent workflows
- Collaborating with product and engineering teams to enable new AI-powered features
- Staying current with advancements in LLMs, embeddings, multimodal models, and agent architectures
You will work with Python, TypeScript, LLM orchestration frameworks, vector databases, RAG pipelines, evaluation suites, and observability tools. The role emphasizes shipping fast, iterating quickly, and learning from real-world deployment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2–3 years of experience in AI Engineering or Machine Learning
- Strong skills in TypeScript and Python
- Familiarity with LLMs, RAG, or AI agent frameworks
- Experience evaluating models or building pipelines involving LLMs (personal projects count)
- Ability to design reliable, deterministic behaviors on top of non-deterministic models
- Comfortable working across the stack (data ingestion to API integration)
- Passion for building AI systems with a strong product mindset
- Independent, curious, and proactive
