WorkMotion is a remote-first workforce solutions company helping businesses hire, onboard, and manage talent internationally. We're seeking an experienced AI Engineer to design, build, and ship production AI services that transform real-world workflows—document processing, customer support, contracts, sales and account operations—into reliable, measurable AI-powered solutions. You will own AI services end-to-end: from prototype to production, including multi-agent systems, LLM-powered pipelines, and MCP tooling. You'll collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to ensure consistency, impact, and momentum across the organization. Key responsibilities include: - Design and build production AI services in Python (FastAPI, async), including multi-agent systems and LLM pipelines for document processing, chatbots, and CRM automation - Develop and maintain MCP servers and integrations that provide agents safe, scoped access to company systems - Build retrieval and ingestion pipelines: document parsing, chunking, embeddings, and vector search over AWS storage - Evaluate and improve quality through benchmarks, regression tests, real-case replay, and prompt/playbook iteration, considering cost and latency - Operate deployed services: containerized deployments, observability, authentication, and secure handling of employee and customer data - Contribute to AI governance by maintaining lifecycle records, documenting risks and decisions, and supporting ISO compliance This role requires a builder mindset—someone energized by turning messy workflows into reliable services while maintaining sharp analytical focus on business impact. You won't work in isolation; cross-functional collaboration is central to success. Requirements: - 3+ years of software engineering experience (backend/Python), with at least 1 year building LLM-based applications in production - Strong Python proficiency: FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy/Alembic, async programming, pytest - Hands-on experience with LLM tooling: agent frameworks (e.g., Google ADK), LiteLLM or similar gateways, tool/function calling, MCP, and RAG with vector databases - Comfortable with Docker, AWS (S3 and related), CI/CD, and observability tooling - Critical competencies: pragmatic problem-solving, written clarity, ownership, and sound judgment on data privacy and security - Fluent English (written and spoken) Bonus experience: - Salesforce, Atlassian APIs, or HR/payroll/global-employment domain data - Running or evaluating closed-weight and/or open-weight models, or PII anonymization and AI governance frameworks (GDPR, ISO 42001, EU AI Act) - Python/Node.js/TypeScript for MCP tooling development - Building evaluation harnesses or benchmarks for LLM systems
