Zoox is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and supporting ecosystem. This Systems Test Engineer role focuses on analyzing and diagnosing system faults across hardware, software, and sensor data from on-road testing and simulation environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Utilize data analytics to analyze and diagnose system faults and errors from on-road testing and simulation runs
- Categorize and prioritize issues based on severity, priority, and impact on safety and performance, collaborating with engineering, software, testing, and offshore teams
- Identify trends in system failures and propose preventative measures to improve system safety and robustness
- Produce clear reports documenting system issues, troubleshooting steps, and root cause analysis
- Define and report on operational characteristics of SBA (Simulation-Based Analysis) execution, including cost and capacity forecasting
- Develop tools and workflows to drive improvements in both quality and quantity of triage operations
- Demonstrate operational agility by adapting to changing priorities, managing multiple tasks, and implementing solutions in dynamic environments
This is a hands-on role where you'll lead by example and work at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, and autonomous vehicle technology.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM-related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in systems troubleshooting and diagnostics, preferably in automotive or embedded systems
- Experience with Git, Agile methodologies, and scripting/programming languages (preferably Python)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with methodical approach to root cause analysis
- Passion for autonomous vehicle technology and safety
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in Quality Assurance or Triage role for Autonomous Driving
- Project Management experience on programs with cross-functional and offshore partners
- Experience with Change Management, Analytics, or Simulation tools
