Salary: USD 180,000 - 295,000 / annual
Enigma is building the most reliable source of business data to power financial services. The company is releasing next-generation small business intelligence products and seeks an experienced Data Scientist to join the Entity Resolution team.
In this role, you will own data science problems end-to-end—from raw source data through model development, scalable pipelines, and customer-facing interfaces. You'll work in a cross-functional team alongside other data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders. Your impact will be measured by improvements to data accuracy and product value for customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Translating customer goals into working solutions using large-scale data transformation, statistics, and high-quality code (primarily Databricks, Spark SQL, PySpark)
- Setting high standards for rigorous analysis and model development grounded in sound statistical practice
- Developing repeatable strategies for validating results against ground truth
- Detecting gaps in data, identifying sources, and closing them to improve the product
- Applying data-focused, first-principles problem-solving with bias toward simple, elegant solutions while implementing state-of-the-art models when needed
The role offers technical challenge (entity resolution is a hard problem), direct ownership and impact (data science is the product, not just a support function), and continuous learning opportunities with complex, unsolved data problems.
Requirements:
- 6–8+ years of industry experience in statistics, experiment design, and distributed machine learning with a track record of delivering customer impact
- Experience as a tech lead or mentor to other data scientists
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
- Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics) or equivalent industry experience
- Principled, metrics-driven approach to solving complex data problems
- Ability to ship fast and iterate with customers rather than pursuing perfection
Bonus qualifications:
- Prior experience building data products in entity resolution, sales, marketing, KYB, or credit underwriting
- Proficiency in Python, Spark, and Databricks
- Experience with large, complex data pipelines
