Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to support the US Army's Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) program within the Connected Warfare business line. The Connected Warfare team builds a next-generation software-defined distributed C2 architecture focused on orchestrating and automating third-party combat-fielded sensors and strike-networks for synchronized joint operations.
The Army & Enterprise Mesh engineering team manages mesh infrastructure at scale—from single nodes to enterprise deployments across any connectivity environment. This role sits within Solution Engineering, which leads the design of solutions spanning multiple engineering teams and companies, publishing reference patterns that guide subsequent integrations.
You will lead technical engagements that bring new partners onto the platform. This includes conducting technical exchanges with partner engineering teams, establishing integration designs, decomposing requirements into engineering work, and authoring reference material that other teams build from. Most work is conducted across organizational boundaries without shared reporting lines or backlogs.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead partner engagements end-to-end: conduct technical exchanges, own integration design, and drive open items to written resolution across organizations
- Design across organizational boundaries: own problems spanning multiple engineering teams and companies where no single team owns the answer; lead through design, orchestration, and proof of concept
- Establish reusable patterns: convert recurring engagement patterns into reference architectures, decision guidance, and integration documentation; define standards other teams follow
- Own the intake process: translate partner and field needs into scoped, prioritized engineering work; document decisions on each request
- Scale onboarding across the Army: identify where integration and onboarding depend on individual intervention; establish automated or self-service paths enabling every Army formation and industry partner to onboard independently
This is a high-impact role requiring deep technical judgment, cross-organizational leadership, and the ability to establish standards and patterns that scale across the defense ecosystem.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years in systems engineering, solutions architecture, integration engineering, technical program management, or forward-deployed engineering
- Architecture judgment in API- and service-based systems: demonstrated ability to design and critique REST or gRPC integrations, authentication flows (OIDC, service credentials, secretless), schemas/data contracts, and event streams; reads specifications and source code fluently
- Ownership across organizational boundaries: experience as technical lead to external engineering team or owner of developer-facing platform surface with external or internal customers
- Technical program execution: demonstrated ability to conduct technical working sessions, hold substantive technical positions, document resulting decisions, and track outstanding commitments on both sides
- Technical writing: ability to produce reference architectures and integration guides engineers can follow to completion; writing sample required
- Communication across audiences: demonstrated ability to convey the same technical decision to partner engineering teams and senior military stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Service in or direct support of US Army organizations, including working understanding of how units adopt new software
- DoD delivery experience: accreditation and authorization processes, multiple classification enclaves, operation in disconnected or bandwidth-constrained environments
- Co-development experience with defense prime, systems integrator, or defense technology company on jointly delivered capability
- Developer experience work: documentation as product, SDKs, developer portals, onboarding automation
- Domain fluency in command and control, geospatial systems, data fabrics, tactical networking, or sensor-to-effector integration
