Okta's Workforce Identity Cloud Security Engineering group is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to design and develop security solutions that harden frameworks and infrastructure. This is a high-impact role in a security-centric, fast-paced organization focused on protecting customer safety and privacy.
You will act as a liaison between the Security, Engineering, and Product organizations to develop innovative security requirements and influence the security roadmap. You will research, design, implement, and own security-oriented frameworks and features with a focus on protecting Okta's customers. Working on a weekly release cadence, you will participate in cross-vertical code reviews with emphasis on security, break down complex problems into sub-tasks, and prototype rapidly using agile practices.
Key responsibilities include evangelizing security best practices across the engineering organization, coaching and mentoring junior engineers, and troubleshooting production issues to ensure reliability, security, and performance. You will propose stimulating new projects for the roadmap and work with emerging technologies.
The role combines deep security domain expertise with the ability to design, implement, and rollout security features without adding friction to product functionality or performance. You will prescribe defense-in-depth measures, enforce the principle of least privilege, and help advance Okta's security posture.
