Horizon3.ai is a fast-growing cybersecurity company building NodeZero, an autonomous penetration testing platform that helps organizations proactively identify and fix exploitable attack vectors. The platform is used by ITOps/SecOps teams, consulting pentesters, and MSSPs across organizations of all sizes, from educational institutions to Global 100 enterprises.
As Staff Software Engineer for Partner Integrations, you will be the technical anchor for how NodeZero connects to the broader security ecosystem. The team maintains integrations with CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Splunk, ServiceNow, and dozens of other platforms—these integrations are core to the product, enabling customers to turn NodeZero findings into action.
You will set technical direction for integration architecture, define reliability and observability standards, and own the most complex integration surfaces personally. This is a hands-on staff-level role where you will write production code, produce architecture designs, mentor engineers, and serve as the go-to person for hard technical problems without obvious answers.
Key responsibilities include: designing and owning the technical framework that all Partner Integrations connectors are built on (authentication lifecycle, event delivery semantics, retry and idempotency patterns, schema mapping, observability); implementing the most technically demanding integration surfaces directly; setting the reliability and observability bar for the team through code review and design review; maintaining deep knowledge of critical partner APIs and event models; mentoring P3 and P4 engineers through design and code review; and owning complex integration failures through diagnosis, partner coordination, and preventive fixes.
The role reports to the Partner Integrations Engineering Manager. Horizon3 is fully remote with up to 5% travel required. The company was founded by former U.S. Special Operations cyber operators, startup engineers, and cybersecurity practitioners, with a culture emphasizing respect, collaboration, ownership, and results.
REQUIREMENTS:
Integration Engineering:
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep specialization in building production integrations, connectors, or API platforms
- Expert-level understanding of API integration patterns: OAuth 2.0 / API key authentication lifecycle, webhook delivery and reliability, idempotency, pagination, rate limiting, partial failure handling, and schema evolution
- Track record building integrations with major security platforms (EDR, SIEM, SOAR, ITSM) or comparable enterprise SaaS ecosystems
Backend & Systems:
- Expert proficiency in Go or Python (team's primary languages)
- Strong grasp of distributed systems reliability patterns: at-least-once delivery, dead-letter queues, circuit breakers
- Experience designing and operating integration observability: structured logging, metrics, alerting, dashboards
- Comfort in cloud-native and containerized environments (Kubernetes, AWS)
Technical Leadership:
- Track record of setting engineering standards that other engineers adopt
- Ability to produce clear architecture documents and drive technical decisions across team and partner boundaries
- Experience mentoring mid-level engineers through design and code review
Nice to Haves:
- Hands-on experience with CrowdStrike Falcon, SentinelOne, Splunk, ServiceNow, Jira, or similar enterprise security and ITSM platforms
- Background in the cybersecurity ecosystem
- Experience designing field-mapping schemas for cross-platform data translation
- Familiarity with integration certification processes
