Amperesand is building next-generation power infrastructure systems for data centers, EV charging platforms, and future energy applications. The company combines advanced power electronics, embedded controls, and scalable energy architectures to modernize how power is converted, controlled, and deployed. In this Staff Software Engineer role, you will lead the design and development of a scalable, robust distributed test framework in Golang that automates test systems across labs and manufacturing lines. You'll accelerate prototype validation and support high-volume production ramp. Your responsibilities include: • Architect a highly scalable, modular test framework in Golang to test high-voltage power electronics, thermal systems, and more, spanning lab validation, regression testing, and production environments. • Drive end-to-end test software development from design through deployment and post-deployment improvements, building in ease of validation and maintenance. • Integrate test systems with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and other databases to enable traceability and closed-loop feedback between test results and production. • Innovate test system design by collaborating with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams, and provide feedback to improve product quality. • Lead and mentor the software team: establish development standards, foster a strong code review culture, and drive adoption of engineering best practices across the team. • Participate hands-on in test hardware bring-up, system debugging, and optimization to meet accuracy, cycle time, and throughput targets. • Travel to facilities worldwide to collaborate with teams and deploy solutions. You will own the technical direction of test software, set engineering standards, and mentor the team. Your hardware background will enable you to design efficient, accurate test systems for Amperesand's Solid State Transformer and integrate them with manufacturing systems. Amperesand has hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore. The company is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top-tier investors. REQUIREMENTS: • BS or MS in Computer or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience. • 6+ years designing and building scalable software for distributed systems, with demonstrated technical leadership on complex projects. • Deep expertise in system-level languages (Golang, Rust, C, C++, etc.) with excellent software fundamentals: architectural design, algorithms, data structures, modularity, and maintainability. • Strong command of concurrency, asynchronous programming, and distributed systems to meet strict cycle-time requirements and maximize throughput. • Experience ingesting high-volume data for real-time decision-making, and with both relational and non-relational databases. • Strong hardware background: experience with electrical hardware, microcontrollers, and communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, etc.), sufficient to design efficient, accurate test systems. • Experience working with Linux. • Proven ability to mentor engineers, build team depth, and drive adoption of engineering standards. • Engaged, proactive, and positive in owning challenging work and taking accountability for team success.
