ServiceNow's Advanced Technology Group is seeking an experienced Staff Frontend Engineer to build AI-native user experiences for their intelligent software platform. You will own customer-facing features end-to-end—from product definition through implementation, testing, release, and iteration—turning complex, nondeterministic AI behavior into fast, clear, and trustworthy interfaces. Key responsibilities include: - Building AI-native experiences for chat, workflows, integrations, approvals, and knowledge systems - Owning customer-facing features across web applications and embedded enterprise surfaces - Creating scalable components and shared product capabilities across the main application and ServiceNow experience - Designing reliable realtime and asynchronous interfaces, including streaming, partial results, retries, interruptions, and failure handling - Owning frontend foundations such as shared packages, build tooling, dependency upgrades, and CI/CD pipelines - Maintaining and improving frontend architecture, performance, developer experience, and maintainability - Enhancing accessibility, responsiveness, performance, observability, and product polish - Collaborating closely with product, design, backend, and AI engineers while independently driving execution - Helping evolve engineering practices as AI changes how software is designed and built The role emphasizes moving fast, asking good questions, caring deeply about users, and taking pride in work quality. You will work with autonomy in a fast-moving environment with limited process overhead. Technology stack includes React, TypeScript, Vite, Nx, TanStack Query, React Hook Form, Socket.IO, TipTap, SCSS Modules, i18next, Vitest, Playwright, Sentry, JSON Schema, Cursor, and Linear. The platform runs on AWS and Kubernetes. REQUIREMENTS: - Strong React and TypeScript fundamentals with proven track record building high-quality customer-facing products - Demonstrated ability to drive meaningful features end-to-end, not only incremental changes - Strong product judgment: care about clarity, speed, accessibility, and details; willingness to speak up when experiences are not good enough - Experience with asynchronous server state, typed APIs, complex forms, realtime events, and failure handling - Ability to design maintainable boundaries between applications, shared features, UI primitives, and API clients - Experience maintaining frontend infrastructure, package ecosystems, build pipelines, and large codebases - Experience with automated testing and confidence in owning production outcomes - Comfort working with autonomy in fast-moving environments with limited process overhead - MANDATORY: Hands-on AI Development Lifecycle (ADLC) experience. Must have shipped software using AI across discovery, design, implementation, testing, review, documentation, and production debugging—not merely used a coding assistant occasionally. Must understand how to validate AI-generated work, define evaluations and regression criteria, manage context, and account for nondeterminism, hallucinations, latency, cost, privacy, and security. Must retain human ownership of architecture, code, and customer outcomes. For product development, must understand prompts, tool calls, structured outputs, approvals, and model failure modes well enough to design trustworthy AI user experiences. Plus factors: Experience with rich-text editors, design systems, Web Components, Shadow DOM, ServiceNow, or AI automation products.
