Rula is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the nascent Provider Onboarding Engineering team within the Provider organization. In this high-impact role, you will serve as the chief architect of a new engineering domain, driving product-based implementations that enable new capabilities for Provider Onboarding across both internal and external-facing users and workflows.
You will lead both product architecture and operational, process-based solutions—building robust custom tools and leveraging industry solutions to improve Provider Onboarding tools across pricing, payments, client panel, and forms. This is an opportunity to establish a brand-new engineering domain from the ground up, mentor other engineers, and build scalable systems that directly support mental healthcare delivery.
Rula is a remote-first, Series C-funded mental health platform dedicated to making mental healthcare accessible and high-quality. The company operates across most U.S. states (excluding Hawaii) and emphasizes trust with payers, patients, and providers as the foundation of its mission.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architecting and implementing new provider onboarding capabilities
- Designing and building robust, scalable systems using modern tech stacks
- Mentoring engineers and establishing design patterns
- Driving all phases of the development lifecycle: planning, specing, execution, measuring success, and post-launch maintenance
- Working cross-functionally to bridge technical and non-technical groups
- Building sustainable solutions for complex, mission-critical systems
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of software engineering experience
- 1+ years working on healthcare or equivalent systems
- 1+ years helping establish a brand-new project or team
- Experience working on cross-functional teams to bridge technical and non-technical groups
- Fullstack experience building modern database-backed (SQL/NoSQL) web applications
- Experience with microservice development
- Experience mentoring others, reviewing architectures, and establishing design patterns
- Experience driving all phases of the development lifecycle: planning, specing, execution, measuring success, and post-launch maintenance
- Experience working on highly complex projects with a focus on achieving sustainable results
Preferred Qualifications:
- Start-up experience
- Experience developing SaaS applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Previous experience in products with high reliability/accuracy requirements (finance, mission-critical systems)
- Experience with on-call responsibilities and ability to deep dive complex issues independently
- Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Kafka
