Bitpanda is a European fintech platform founded in 2014 that enables millions of users to invest in cryptocurrencies, stocks, precious metals, and commodities. The company is building a sophisticated system for asset pricing, risk management, and hedging across multiple asset classes.
In this role, you will be a core backend engineer responsible for building and maintaining high-performance Python systems that power Bitpanda's trading infrastructure. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Develop scalable backend systems using Python that support critical trading and pricing functions
- Design and maintain clean, testable code within a microservice architecture
- Contribute to the evolution of event-driven systems that handle real-time market data and trading operations
- Solve complex technical challenges in asset pricing, hedging, and multi-asset management across crypto, stocks, metals, and fiat currencies
- Work directly with business-critical systems where your code impacts trading reliability and user experience
You will work with modern technologies including FastAPI for API design, relational and NoSQL databases, event-driven architectures with Kafka or ZeroMQ, and AWS infrastructure. The role requires strong fundamentals in backend engineering and the ability to design systems that are both performant and maintainable.
