Morning Consult is a global decision intelligence company that pairs proprietary high-frequency data with applied artificial intelligence to help leaders make smarter, faster decisions.
In this DevOps Engineer II role, you'll build and maintain the infrastructure platform that enables Morning Consult's engineering teams to ship AI-powered products quickly and safely. You'll own infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and observability systems while working closely with product and data engineers on architecture decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning infrastructure as code (Terraform/CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines to enable safe, frequent deployments
- Bringing infrastructure perspective to architecture decisions early in the process, collaborating with engineers rather than working at handoff
- Improving observability, alerting, and incident response capabilities; tracing problems to root cause and sharing learnings
- Leading defined infrastructure projects from scoping through rollout
- Maintaining AWS environment security, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Reviewing teammates' infrastructure code and sharing knowledge
- Experimenting with AI tools in infrastructure work and sharing best practices across the team
The role is fully remote but can also be based in any of Morning Consult's office locations (Washington DC, New York, or Chicago) if preferred.
Requirements:
- 2-4 years of DevOps engineering experience, ideally in a small or mid-size company where you've worn multiple hats
- Hands-on AWS experience with core services (EC2, EKS/ECS, S3, IAM, networking)
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform or CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines
- Track record of owning projects end-to-end and explaining technical tradeoffs clearly to non-infrastructure engineers
- Curiosity about AI and experience using AI tools to speed up infrastructure, debugging, or automation work
- Nice to have: Kubernetes experience
Note: The company welcomes diverse and non-traditional backgrounds and encourages applications even if you don't meet every qualification. You're expected to learn and grow throughout your tenure.
