Salary: USD 146,000 - 225,000 / annual
Affirm is a fintech company that enables people to pay over time with transparency and no hidden fees. The Batch Developer Experience team builds tools and systems that streamline batch development, testing, and reliability across Affirm's critical batch workloads.
In this role, you will work with your tech lead and manager to break down larger projects into individual tasks and deliver them in multiple phases. You'll collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams to participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that balance risks and trade-offs. You'll also support the operations and availability of your team's systems by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues when needed, and participating in on-call rotations.
You'll contribute to team culture by engaging in growth and development activities, including participation in the interview process and code reviews. This is a backend-focused role where you'll design, develop, and launch distributed systems that power Affirm's infrastructure.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems
- Proficiency in Python or Kotlin
- Familiarity with distributed systems building blocks and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
- Ability to translate business problems into solutions that interact with multiple software components
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, well-tested, and extensible code
- Comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging, and providing code review feedback
- Proactive approach to growth and feedback-seeking
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with global teams
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
