Mistral is building a sovereign AI cloud for Europe, providing full-stack AI solutions from frontier models to developer tools and compute infrastructure. The Cloud Platform team is responsible for the systems that enable customers in finance, healthcare, and the public sector to run frontier models on European-jurisdiction infrastructure, including compute orchestration, Kubernetes, bare metal, storage, networking, and datacenter fleet management. In this role, you will build Mistral's serverless containers product—the platform that enables developers to run AI applications, MCP servers, APIs, and managed workers on the cloud without managing servers. The product allows developers to push a container and receive an endpoint, with automatic scaling from zero to thousands of instances across CPU and GPU resources. You will own the full stack: the scheduler that determines container placement, the request routing path, and the machinery that transitions scaled-to-zero services to warm instances with minimal latency. The platform runs on Mistral's own metal, network, and datacenters, creating a unique tension between scale-to-zero economics and millisecond cold starts. You will design and ship the layer that every sovereign AI deployment depends on. Key responsibilities include: - Building the container platform end-to-end: image delivery, placement, request routing, scale-up, and scale-to-zero across CPU and GPU - Solving cold starts through snapshotting, prewarming, image-layer caching, and other optimization techniques - Treating AI workloads as the primary use case: GPU-backed containers, streaming responses, long-lived connections, and cost-efficient idle MCP servers - Writing Go and owning architecture and critical implementation decisions - Partnering with Product Managers to translate platform capabilities into developer-focused products Requirements: - Shipped production systems in Go (not experimental work—proven track record) - Built container or workload platforms including orchestration, scheduling, isolation, and request routing (not just deployed onto existing serverless platforms) - Deep Linux expertise: namespaces, cgroups, image layers, page cache, and comfort working below the application layer - Multi-tenancy experience: understanding density, isolation, and fairness when hundreds of customers share infrastructure - Significant experience building complex backend or infrastructure systems - Track record of partnering with product, design, and business teams to ship software reaching real users - Low-ego, team-first mindset and ability to work effectively alongside other strong engineers
