Wayve is building an AI platform for autonomous driving using end-to-end learning from real-world experience. The Embedded Automotive Platforms team creates the production software core and platform-adaptation layers that enable Wayve's autonomous-driving software to run efficiently across embedded hardware, including NVIDIA and Qualcomm platforms.
In this role, you will design and implement modern C++17/20 software for the Wayve Driver core and its platform-adaptation applications. Your day-to-day work includes developing embedded application and middleware software on Linux, QNX and other real-time operating systems; integrating and validating the autonomy stack on automotive reference platforms and Wayve's internal fleet; profiling, debugging and improving performance across application, middleware and operating-system boundaries; and owning features end to end from design through testing, integration and production support.
You'll work on the production core of the Wayve Driver and adaptation layers for different vehicle and compute platforms, automotive-grade C++ systems spanning embedded applications, middleware, hardware abstractions and sensor interfaces, and integration with NVIDIA DRIVE Orin, Qualcomm 8650/8620 and comparable automotive compute platforms. You'll collaborate with distributed engineering teams and customer programmes across Israel, the UK and the US.
Wayve operates a hybrid working model combining in-person collaboration in dedicated office spaces with focused remote work. The company's main hubs include London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver and Leonberg. Wayve is not a fully-structured mature organization; much of how the company works is still being written, and you'll help shape it.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing high-performance production systems in modern C++
- Developed application or middleware software on embedded Linux, QNX or another RTOS
- Understanding of middleware architectures and inter-process communication mechanisms
- Experience in automotive, autonomous driving or robotics, including familiarity with vehicle development and sensor integration
- Comfortable using profiling, tracing and debugging tools to diagnose bottlenecks, latency and complex system issues
- Track record of owning software through design, implementation, testing, integration and production support
- Advantageous: Hardware Abstraction Layers, device-driver integration, NVIDIA or Qualcomm automotive platforms, or standards such as ISO 26262, AUTOSAR and MISRA
