Glydways is reimagining public transit with a groundbreaking network of carbon-neutral, interconnected transit pathways powered by autonomous vehicles on dedicated roadways. The company operates 24/7 with on-demand access, delivering personalized and efficient mobility without heavy upfront infrastructure costs. The Developer Platform team, part of Software Foundations and Architecture, is responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that enables all developers to track, build, deploy, and operate software. This role focuses on the Bazel monorepo build system that every engineer at Glydways uses daily—its speed and reliability set the pace for the entire company. You will own and evolve the Bazel build system, keeping it fast, reliable, hermetic, and easy to use across the organization. Key responsibilities include: • Rolling out remote build execution and improving remote cache hit rates across CI and developer machines • Profiling and cutting build and test times in the monorepo while maintaining hermeticity and reproducibility • Upgrading and maintaining Bazel, rulesets, and external dependencies (Bzlmod) • Supporting C++ toolchains and cross-compilation for embedded targets • Building dashboards and alerts for build health, flaky tests, and CI performance • Maintaining and enhancing developer workflows for C++, Python, and Go • Collaborating with software engineering teams to improve the continuous integration system using AWS and Buildkite • Developing automation tools to streamline developer workflows such as change submission, integration testing, and dependency management • Participating in on-call rotation to keep shared developer infrastructure healthy This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise in build systems and developer infrastructure. You will work closely with engineers across the organization to identify and implement improvements that benefit the entire software engineering team. REQUIREMENTS: • Hands-on experience maintaining Bazel (or comparable systems like Buck or Pants) in a multi-language monorepo: writing rules and macros, configuring toolchains, debugging build and cache correctness • Strong knowledge of build systems and software development cycle tools (git, linting, GitHub, code review, testing frameworks, deployment frameworks) • Working knowledge of C++ build toolchains (compilers, linkers, sysroots, cross-compilation) • Strong knowledge of CI/CD best practices and principles; direct Buildkite experience is a plus • Experience developing tools and services in Python or Go • Experience with Linux operating systems in development and operational environments • Knowledge of AWS or similar cloud platforms; Terraform experience is a plus • Knowledge of on-call support processes, incident management, and monitoring tooling • Experience with remote caching and remote execution (BuildBuddy, EngFlow, Buildbarn, NativeLink) is a significant plus • Familiarity with front-end web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, modern frameworks) for building internal tools and dashboards is a plus
