Cabify is a mobility platform operating across 6 countries and 40 cities with over 20 million users worldwide. The company is building distributed systems that connect riders to drivers while improving urban mobility and sustainability. You will join the Technology team as a Backend Software Engineer, working on production systems that increasingly incorporate AI and LLM-powered services. Your responsibilities include: - Collaborating with principal engineers on development planning and architecture design, including AI-driven components - Designing, building, and maintaining distributed, clean, testable, data-oriented applications with AI/LLM-powered services - Using AI coding assistants and agentic tools as part of your daily workflow to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality - Improving service reliability, scalability, and performance for systems integrating with LLM and AI model APIs - Owning code through production with self-service continuous delivery pipelines and infrastructure - Solving host-level problems and improving detection methods - Contributing to engineering culture through peer reviews, monitoring, on-call practices, and responsible AI tooling use - Mentoring junior developers on effective pairing with AI tools - Collaborating with the Data Science team on data initiatives The team is language-agnostic and primarily works with Go, Elixir, or Ruby. You'll have flexibility to use other languages and technologies as appropriate. The company emphasizes adaptability, curiosity, and quick learning of new tools, including AI-native ones. REQUIREMENTS: - Solid knowledge of common algorithms and data structures - Experience developing medium/large-scale web applications and distributed systems in production - Experience with common design and architectural patterns - Comfort working with AI coding assistants and agentic workflows (e.g., Copilot, Claude Code, MCP-based integrations) as part of daily process, with strong ability to own engineering decisions, validation, quality, and production outcomes - Bonus: experience with agentic or RAG-based systems - Genuine curiosity about how AI is changing software engineering and interest in experimenting with new tools and workflows - Ability to work independently while being a strong team player - Ability to understand and help make great product and business decisions - Ability to achieve results in a fast-paced, changing environment - Alignment with Cabify's principles (see company handbook)
