Salary: USD 130,000 - 250,000 / annual
Column is a developer-first bank and financial infrastructure platform founded in 2019 by veterans from Plaid, Square, Meta, Blend, and Affirm. You will join a lean, experienced team of 11 engineers as a backend software engineer reporting directly to the CEO. This is a high-impact role owning core systems that power Column's banking platform, handling billions of dollars daily.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain backend systems powering Column's core banking platform, including payments processing, transaction logic, and real-time ledgering
- Own direct integrations with the Federal Reserve and real-time payment networks, ensuring correctness and reliability
- Design and implement APIs, services, and data pipelines for internal teams and external developers
- Drive improvements to system resiliency, scalability, and observability across distributed architecture
- Lead cross-cutting platform initiatives including authentication/authorization, event streaming, and change data capture
- Write mission-critical code optimized for correctness, performance, and fault tolerance in a regulated environment
- Uphold highest standards for system safety in a compliance-sensitive context
The role is based in Column's Presidio office in San Francisco and follows a hybrid schedule.
