Cloudflare is seeking a Software Engineer to architect, scale, and operate the distributed infrastructure powering its global server fleets. You will drive automation and build tooling to enable continued infrastructure growth across millions of websites and Internet properties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and scale robust distributed systems with focus on high availability, low latency, and horizontal scalability
- Optimize performance by analyzing system bottlenecks, tuning kernel and network stacks, and optimizing resource utilization across global server fleets
- Build and maintain internal tools and automation frameworks for infrastructure deployment, configuration management, and monitoring
- Participate in architecture reviews, capacity planning, and proactive system health monitoring to ensure maximum uptime and resilience
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Security, Network Engineering, and Product teams to integrate infrastructure solutions across the stack

Requirements:
- Demonstrable professional experience building and managing large-scale distributed systems or Linux production environments
- Proficiency in at least one systems programming or scripting language with a track record of writing clean, maintainable code
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to diagnosing complex system-level failures
- Experience using AI to optimize daily work
Bonus Experience:
- Managing containerized workloads at scale using Kubernetes, Docker, or similar orchestration platforms
- Configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, SaltStack)
- CI/CD pipelines and automated testing strategies for infrastructure
