Wayve is building the leading AI platform for autonomous driving using an end-to-end AI approach that enables vehicles to learn directly from real-world experience. The company is pioneering mapless, hardware-agnostic technology that adapts, generalizes and improves at scale.
The AI Platform team builds the foundations enabling machine learning engineers and researchers to train, evaluate and deploy models at scale. Within the AI Libraries team, you will create high-quality platforms, tools and reusable abstractions supporting thousands of GPUs to accelerate autonomous-driving technology development.
Your day-to-day work involves collaborating closely with machine learning teams to understand their workflows and translate complex requirements into stable, scalable and intuitive software. You will spend significant time designing and writing Python code, leading projects from discovery through delivery, improving engineering standards and supporting users as they push the scale and performance of their models.
Key projects include building modular libraries for multimodal data loading, distributed training and inference, checkpointing and observability. You will improve the reliability, performance and developer experience of systems used across Wayve, helping teams train models efficiently on large GPU clusters and work with camera, radar, lidar and other data sources.
Wayve operates a hybrid working model combining in-person collaboration in dedicated office spaces with focused remote work. Main hubs are in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver and Leonberg. The company offers competitive salaries benchmarked against the market, meaningful equity, relocation support and visa sponsorship where applicable, comprehensive benefits including health insurance, dental, enhanced parental leave, retirement/pension, access to therapists and wellbeing partnerships, learning and development budgets, and the opportunity to work hands-on in vehicle workshops and labs.
Wayve is not a fully-structured mature organization; much of how the company works is still being written. This role suits people who want real ownership and are comfortable with evolving processes.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Extensive Python experience with a track record of designing, delivering and maintaining high-quality software systems at scale
- Strong understanding of software architecture, testing and observability
- Experience with concurrent, parallel or distributed computing
- Highly valuable: familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow and cloud environments, ideally Azure
- This is a software and platform engineering role rather than an ML modelling position
- Passion for autonomy and willingness to learn are encouraged even if not meeting every requirement
