Keyfactor is seeking a Senior Software QA Analyst to own quality strategy for Redtrust, Keyfactor's digital-signature and certificate-management platform (acquired from the Spanish company Redtrust in 2019). This is a senior individual-contributor role focused on test strategy and cross-functional coordination rather than execution alone.
You will take ownership of how Redtrust is tested end-to-end: defining risk-based test strategy, transforming a largely manual regression process into a prioritized, automation-first approach, and owning the interface between Product, Development, and QA so that quality is designed in early rather than inspected at the end. You will work alongside automation engineers—you set the strategy and priorities and own coverage decisions; they build the automation. You will partner with Development to grow the right test coverage at the right layer (unit, API, and UI). This role is central to modernizing testing practices and improving coordination across Product, Development, and QA.
In your first year, success includes: a risk-tiered, rationalized regression strategy with redundant coverage retired and the manual cycle measurably shorter; a shared, documented definition of "critical path" agreed with Product and Development; a healthier testing pyramid with growing unit-test ownership by Development, integration/API coverage by QA, and UI testing focused on critical journeys; quality risk made visible to leadership through regression cost, untested-surface exposure, and coverage trends; and automation engineers freed to focus on building automation because strategy and coordination are owned by you.
Key responsibilities: Design and own a comprehensive, risk-based test strategy spanning functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing. Lead transformation of manual regression into an automation-first approach by inventorying, risk-tiering, and retiring redundant cases. Design and maintain test plans for significant features. Identify, document, and track defects with Development. Participate in product design reviews to surface quality risks early. Own the coordination interface between Product, Development, and QA. Partner with Development to define and grow the unit-test layer. Establish test documentation, quality metrics, and reporting. Drive continuous improvement in QA methodologies and tooling. Mentor junior QA engineers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in QA engineering, QA analysis, or related field
- Demonstrated experience with risk-based test strategy—able to assess and defensibly prioritize, rationalize, and reduce large or bloated test suites
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and influence; comfortable in product design reviews and negotiating scope with engineering and product stakeholders
- Solid test-automation literacy sufficient to prioritize automation backlogs, judge appropriate test layers (unit/API/UI), and collaborate with automation engineers
- Experience with test-management tooling and defect-tracking/traceability practices
- Experience with manual testing and defect tracking, with clear orientation toward eliminating manual toil through strategy and automation
- Strategic thinking, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and high-level proficiency in relevant tools and technologies
- Ability to lead complex initiatives, drive strategic change, and influence decision-making across functions
- Extensive knowledge of industry trends, quality methodologies, and cross-functional processes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exposure to security, PKI, certificate-management, or compliance-sensitive domains
- Familiarity with BDD/Gherkin-style specification and Cucumber-based test suites
- Experience helping teams transition from manual-heavy to automation-first testing
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration
