Wayve is building an AI platform for autonomous driving using end-to-end learning. The company develops embodied intelligence that enables vehicles to learn from real-world experience and adapt at scale, with a mapless, hardware-agnostic approach integrated with global OEM partners. In this role, you will be part of Wayve's Robot Software teams, specifically the Runtime Platform area. You'll help build the onboard runtime that allows autonomy applications to execute reliably across the development fleet. The Runtime Platform focuses on foundational systems shared by vehicle applications: process lifecycle, communication, resource management, diagnostics, performance, and developer tooling for complex embedded software. Your day-to-day responsibilities include: - Design, implement, test, and maintain runtime-platform components in C++ - Profile and debug CPU, memory, latency, scheduling, I/O, and inter-process communication issues - Build observability and diagnostics for software running on remote vehicle compute - Work with application teams to understand performance and reliability needs - Improve developer workflows for building, deploying, testing, and troubleshooting onboard services - Contribute to design reviews, documentation, testing strategy, and platform roadmaps You'll work on application lifecycle and service management on embedded Linux or QNX systems, high-throughput low-latency inter-process communication for robotics workloads, resource management and scheduling, performance optimization across CPU/memory/storage/networking/accelerators, runtime metrics and fleet-level observability, and reusable platform APIs supporting multiple vehicle and compute configurations. Wayve operates hybrid working with main hubs in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg. The company combines in-person collaboration with remote flexibility. The interview process includes a recruiter screen (25 mins), competency interviews (2 hours), deep-dive technical interviews (3 hours), and a final values-alignment interview (30 mins). Requirements: - Strong modern C++ experience and solid foundation in systems programming - Understanding of Linux processes, threads, memory, scheduling, networking, and IPC - Ability to debug complex performance and reliability problems across multiple software layers - Production software experience in embedded systems, robotics, automotive, infrastructure, or distributed systems - Care for clean interfaces, automated testing, observability, and developer experience - Effective collaboration with application, platform, hardware, and operations teams - Valuable but not required: QNX, ROS2 or similar middleware, real-time systems, embedded compute, tracing/profiling tools, high-throughput robotics data pipelines Note: The posting explicitly welcomes applications from candidates who don't meet every requirement if passionate about autonomy and keen to learn.
