Maven AGI is building conversational AI agents that autonomously resolve customer support issues by taking action within customer accounts—not just answering FAQs. Founded in 2023 by executives from HubSpot, Google, and Stripe, Maven's platform powers agents that resolve 70–93% of interactions autonomously for customers including Dell, ServPro, HardRock, Tripadvisor, Clio, and Thumbtack.
You will join the Platform team as a Senior Software Engineer, helping define the technical direction of Maven's systems and mentoring other engineers. This is a high-impact role where you'll drive architecture, design, and implementation of robust, scalable systems in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to the architecture and development of a world-class agentic platform powering intelligent, production-grade AI agents
- Work with cross-functional partners to define requirements and translate them into clear, maintainable technical solutions
- Lead or support high-impact initiatives that expand platform capabilities and accelerate the roadmap
- Mentor engineers, provide thoughtful feedback, and elevate the overall quality of the team's technical work
- Build well-structured, testable, and resilient services that operate at scale in production
- Adapt quickly to evolving priorities in an environment that values iteration, ownership, and continuous improvement
You'll work on a hybrid basis out of Maven's Boston or San Francisco office. The team is ~130 people, built from zero in under three years—small enough that your work is visible, large enough to operate at Dell- and Tripadvisor-scale.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong track record of delivering production-quality systems
- Experience building backend services in TypeScript/Node and Java; Spring Boot experience highly desirable
- Experience setting technical direction for teams, making architecture decisions, and influencing engineering best practices
- Relevant telephony experience (SIP, Twilio, or similar communication platforms) or demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and operate within this domain—including voice routing, call flow orchestration, messaging pipelines, or integrating telephony services into distributed systems
- Clear communication, strong cross-functional collaboration, and ability to articulate technical tradeoffs
- Excitement for fast-paced startup environments, comfort with ambiguity, and drive to create clarity and momentum
- Familiarity with LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, or agentic systems is a plus
