Wayve is building the AI platform for autonomous driving, pioneering an end-to-end learning approach that enables vehicles to adapt and improve at scale. The Robot Software group turns new vehicle programs into stable, reliable systems, and the Platform Integration team works at the boundary between onboard software and vehicle hardware.
In this role, you'll combine hands-on vehicle and bench work with production software development to enable safe, scalable deployment across multiple vehicle programs.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Support software bring-up on benches, hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) systems, and vehicles, including work at international test locations
- Develop and maintain vehicle-facing software components and shared frameworks
- Diagnose integration issues across software and hardware boundaries and drive resolution
- Identify architectural improvements that reduce bespoke work and improve reuse across programs
- Build diagnostics, tooling, and metrics for robot-software reliability and performance
- Produce clear documentation and runbooks for long-term supportability
- Collaborate with hardware, safety, controls, calibration, and reliability teams
Key technical areas:
- New vehicle-program bring-up across embedded compute, sensors, networks, and software services
- Linux-based robotic and automotive systems with multi-process and distributed architectures
- ROS2 or similar middleware, node development, message interfaces, and system integration
- Sensor calibration, synchronization, data validation, and system-level debugging
- Automotive-grade compute platforms such as NVIDIA DRIVE and Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride
- Vehicle communication systems including CAN and Automotive Ethernet
- Shared abstractions and frameworks that improve reliability across programs
Wayve operates a hybrid model with main hubs in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg, combining in-person collaboration with remote flexibility. The company is not a mature, fully-structured organization; much of how it works is still being written, and you'll help shape it.
Requirements:
- Strong software-development experience in C++, Python, or Rust
- Delivered production-quality software on Linux-based robotic, embedded, or automotive platforms
- Understanding of ROS2 or similar robotics middleware and distributed-system integration
- Hands-on experience integrating software with vehicle or embedded hardware
- Ability to diagnose complex problems using logs, telemetry, on-target tests, and systematic experimentation
- Understanding of vehicle sensors, networking, and practical realities of platform bring-up
Valuable additional experience: drive-by-wire systems, CAN tools, shared frameworks, HiL or simulation, functional safety, technical documentation, or observability.
