CreativeX is building a system of creative control for an AI-first marketing world. The company uses computer vision and machine learning to extract creative data from digital advertising and transform it into standardized data models at industrial scale, helping brands isolate creative elements and analyze them against downstream ad impact metrics.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Platform Engineering team, you will own the reliability, performance, and scalability of the production infrastructure behind CreativeX's products. The Platform Engineering team builds infrastructure, shared services, and self-service tools that other engineers depend on, and runs the systems that collect, process, and serve ad data and creative scoring to customers.
You will lead database migrations and rearchitecture work as the company evolves its core architecture, scales processing pipelines for higher throughput, and automates creative asset processing. This is a systems-level role where you will write code, but most of your impact will come from how systems are designed, run, observed, and scaled. You will take systems that work and make them faster, more reliable, and easier to run.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own and serve as the go-to expert for reliability and performance of production systems
- Lead database migrations and rearchitecture projects across teams, from planning through cutover with minimal customer disruption
- Scale infrastructure and data processing pipelines to handle growing data volumes and throughput
- Build self-service tools and automation for engineer deployment, testing, and debugging
- Maintain and improve staging, development environments, deployment automation, and testing infrastructure
- Improve observability using AI-assisted workflows to reduce manual investigation and repetitive operational work
- Respond to production incidents and lead post-incident reviews for lasting fixes
- Collaborate with Information Security, Product, and engineering teams on security and feasibility
- Set and meet reliability and performance targets for the platform
In your first 90 days, you will understand the production architecture and data layer well enough to ship improvements, assess the current database setup and plan the first major migration with engineering leadership, and deliver at least one reliability or observability improvement that other teams notice.
After one year, you will have led at least one major database migration or rearchitecture to completion without unplanned downtime, scaled systems to handle higher data volumes with tracked reliability and performance targets, and built self-service tooling that engineers across CreativeX use to deploy, test, and debug.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience leading a database migration or significant architectural change on a live production system
- Deep, hands-on experience with cloud data platforms in production, including performance tuning and query optimization
- Track record of scaling existing web applications and infrastructure, with strong grounding in observability, monitoring, and alerting
- Comfort reading and writing production code, ideally in Ruby on Rails
- Day-to-day use of AI tools such as Claude to build workflows and automation
- Clear communication skills: explaining technical trade-offs to engineers and non-engineers, writing followable documentation
- Experience with a major cloud platform (AWS or DigitalOcean), infrastructure as code (e.g., Ansible), and monitoring tools (Datadog or similar)
- Nice to have: high-volume data or media pipelines, internal developer platforms or self-service tooling, experience within a formal information security program
