Salary: CAD 153,000 - 213,000 / annual
Affirm is a fintech company enabling flexible payment options for consumers. The Marketplace and App Experience domain drives the user journey across mobile and web surfaces, including the Home hub and various product offers.
In this role, you will work on front-end facing cross-team projects at the intersection of mobile and web technologies. You'll break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with engineers across the organization. You'll partner with product management, design, and analytics teams during ideation, articulate technical constraints, and help evaluate risks and trade-offs in product decisions.
You'll also own the operational health of your team's systems by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues when needed, and participating in on-call rotations. You'll contribute to team culture through mentoring, code reviews, and participation in the hiring process.
This is a fullstack role spanning React/Vue web development, React Native or native mobile development, and backend API design using languages like Kotlin or Python. You'll work in a large codebase, debug complex issues, and write clear, well-tested, extensible code.
Affirm is remote-first with flexibility. This specific role is open to candidates residing in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan. New hires attend an in-person onboarding experience.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks (React or Vue)
- Experience shipping mobile apps using native or cross-platform languages (React Native)
- Experience designing, developing, and launching APIs at scale (Kotlin or Python)
- Ability to translate business scenarios into multi-component solutions with clear, tested, extensible code
- Comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging, and providing code review feedback
- Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and proactive feedback-seeking
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
