Linktree is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Earn squad, the team responsible for building the monetization systems that enable creators to earn money on the platform. This includes subscriptions, tips, digital products, checkout flows, and payouts. With 70+ million users and 48,000 new accounts created daily, the systems you build directly impact creator revenue.
You will work across the full stack, designing and shipping services, APIs, and product surfaces that power creator earnings. This is hands-on individual contributor work close to revenue, with embedded product and design partners. The role demands high standards for correctness—payment bugs directly affect creators' livelihoods. You'll focus on idempotent charge handling, entitlement state management, reconciliation against payment providers, and seamless checkout experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and ship full-stack features across the Earn surface, from payment and entitlement services through checkout and subscription experiences
- Own money-movement correctness end-to-end: idempotent charge handling, entitlement state, provider reconciliation, and accurate payouts
- Integrate and maintain payment and commerce partners, handling auth, webhooks, versioning, and graceful degradation
- Instrument shipped features and use data to drive decisions on conversion, churn, and failed-payment recovery
- Partner with product, design, finance, and partnerships teams to turn revenue opportunities into shipped, measured features
- Incorporate AI into development practices and product where it adds value
- Raise engineering standards through clear writing, thorough code reviews, and mentoring
Linktree is a global company with offices in London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, and San Francisco. The role is hybrid, based in Los Angeles or San Francisco. The company offers flexible work arrangements, async-first collaboration, and comprehensive benefits including wellness allowances, full health insurance coverage, retirement contributions, generous time off, and employee stock options.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production full-stack features
- Solid full-stack skills across core stack: TypeScript, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL or MySQL, GraphQL, AWS
- Hands-on experience with payments, billing, subscriptions, or similar domains where correctness is non-negotiable (idempotency, retries, reconciliation, partial failure)
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and SDKs, including auth, rate limits, webhook ordering, and provider outages
- Comfortable working in large, established codebases not written by you, with judgment about safe changes
- Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Cursor, Codex), including prompting, iteration, validation, and refinement
- Comfortable with ambiguity; able to turn loosely defined revenue opportunities into shipped, measured features
- High craft standards; attention to failed-payment states, error messaging, and edge cases
- Strong communicator who works well cross-functionally and documents decisions
- Based in Los Angeles or San Francisco for hybrid office work
