Salary: USD 175,000 - 205,000 / annual
Allara is a comprehensive women's health platform trusted by over 60,000 women nationwide. The company specializes in longitudinal, multidisciplinary care for hormonal conditions (PCOS), metabolic issues (insulin resistance), and life stages (perimenopause), delivering measurable health outcomes.
You will develop and ship features across an event-driven platform that directly impacts how women access healthcare. This includes patient-facing applications, AI-powered health tools, and integrations with healthcare systems. Working with experienced engineers, you'll contribute to scalable systems while deepening expertise in distributed architecture, healthcare technology, and engineering best practices.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and ship full-stack features that enhance patient experience and enable personalized care delivery
- Develop event-driven systems, including AI/ML-powered health guidance tools and healthcare integrations
- Write clean, maintainable code following established engineering standards
- Collaborate with product, design, clinical, and data teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions
- Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback
- Support production system reliability and performance through monitoring, debugging, and incremental improvements
The role is hybrid in NYC with an expectation of at least three days per week in office, with flexibility as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5–10 years of software engineering experience building and shipping production applications
- Strong programming skills in modern languages: Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar
- Full-stack development experience, including frontend frameworks (React, Next.js, or similar) and backend services
- Understanding of RESTful APIs, databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Self-motivated with a growth mindset and eagerness to learn new technologies and domains
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with event-driven architectures, message queues, or stream processing
- Exposure to healthcare technology, HIPAA compliance requirements, or regulated industries
- Familiarity with Next.js, TypeScript, or AWS services
- Prior experience at a startup or fast-paced environment
