LocalStack is a Series A startup (funded $25M in Q4 2024 by Notable Capital, CRV, and Heavybit) building a local cloud development platform that enables developers and AI agents to simulate cloud environments locally for faster, safer development and testing. The platform serves customers ranging from SMBs to Fortune 500 companies including NASA, Harness, IBM, Workday, Comcast, Apple, 3M, and Block.
You will own the full roadmap and scaling of LocalStack's GCP emulator product from MVP to GA-ready status. This is a high-impact individual contributor role where you will independently operate the agentic production line for the GCP product, instrument and measure adoption metrics, iterate based on user feedback, and collaborate closely with the GTM team to integrate the GCP emulator into a broader product suite (AWS, Snowflake, Azure, digital twins, etc.).
Key responsibilities include:
- Scale the GCP emulator MVP into a production-ready GA product with full roadmap ownership
- Independently manage the agentic production line for GCP
- Instrument, measure, and iterate on adoption metrics while connecting directly with users
- Partner with GTM to position GCP emulator within the wider product ecosystem
LocalStack is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, with an engineering office in Vienna, Austria, and a globally distributed team across 25+ countries. The company nearly doubled in size during 2025 and continues expanding across all functions in 2026.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of professional software engineering or sales/solutions engineering experience in a GCP context
- In-depth knowledge of GCP and exceptional understanding of how GCP is used in practice
- High systems-level fluency in cloud emulation requirements: APIs, authentication, resource models, distributed systems; demonstrated strong systems design thinking and experience
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Rust, or comparable language
- Experience with Claude/Gemini/Codex-class AI tooling to ship solutions
- Deep knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and distribution mechanics: single binary packaging, cross-platform builds, licensing/entitlement gating, telemetry instrumentation
- Experience in a product-based environment with strong product mindset, preferably VC-backed Series B+ company (devtooling or cloud infrastructure preferred)
