Salary: USD 143,000 - 162,000 / annual
Chromatic is seeking a Senior Product Designer to lead the design of developer-focused products, with a particular emphasis on bringing developer workflows to AI agents. This is a hands-on role spanning research, design, and implementation—you'll own the complete product experience from concept through pixels.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design comprehensive product experiences from initial concept through user flows to final pixels
- Develop deep understanding of the algorithms, policies, and prior art that inform design decisions
- Conduct customer research to understand workflows, then synthesize findings against business priorities to determine what to build
- Verify implementation quality across interaction behavior, accessibility, copy, and edge cases
- Build durable design systems with components, tokens, and guidelines for engineers and AI agents
- Develop agent skills and harnesses that encode design decisions
- Collaborate with Marketing on visuals and content for shipped features
You'll work in a technical environment where understanding developer needs and AI agent capabilities is essential. The role requires balancing design craft with pragmatic scope management and the ability to iterate based on data and feedback.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of product design experience with strong UX and visual design craft
- Proven track record shipping technical products with deep understanding of their mechanics
- Active experience using coding agents, experimenting with new workflows, and tuning output quality
- Ability to build prototypes and production UI in React
- Skill in working within existing design patterns while balancing scope against business needs
- Collaborative mindset: bring recommendations, seek early feedback, and adjust based on new data
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical ideas and design decisions in writing and visuals
