Zopa Bank is seeking a Senior Product Analyst to join the Transaction Enrichment team. This is a data and analytical role where strong product thinking is equally important as technical ability. You will analyze AI-driven transaction enrichment systems to understand where they fall short, form hypotheses, build prototypes to test them, and shape the product roadmap.
In this role, you'll spend your time understanding transaction enrichment performance, designing experiments to test improvements, and translating findings into clear recommendations for Product and Engineering teams. You'll work with Python and SQL to explore data, call LLM APIs directly, and build quick test harnesses to validate hypotheses before engineering resources are committed. You'll design and run evaluations—including LLM-as-judge approaches—to determine whether changes improve outcomes and identify new problems they might introduce.
The Transaction Enrichment team sits at the heart of how Zopa transforms raw transaction data into intelligent products. The team builds capabilities that tag merchants, assign categories, ensure data quality, and integrate cleanly into broader data models and customer-facing products. As the company moves toward AI-first ways of working, the team is rethinking how transaction data should be accessed and used by analysts, product teams, AI systems, and LLM-powered tools. The work is foundational: improving systems, shaping strategy, and building capabilities that compound in value over time.
A typical day involves analyzing enrichment data to understand failure modes, surfacing opportunities the team wouldn't otherwise see, designing solutions that balance accuracy/cost/coverage trade-offs, building test harnesses, designing evaluations, translating findings into recommendations, and staying current with AI and data quality tooling developments.
Zopa values flexible working and offers a hybrid arrangement with 2-3 days per week in the London office, plus the option to work abroad for up to 120 days per year (subject to right to work).
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1–3 years in an analytical or technical role
- Comfortable writing code (typically Python and SQL) to explore data, clean outputs, call APIs, and prototype ideas
- Some experience working with LLM APIs: calling them, prompting them, structuring outputs, and understanding their limitations
- Think in experiments: form hypotheses before examining data, design tests that could prove you wrong, interpret results with appropriate skepticism
- Naturally curious about messy, imperfect systems; want to understand why something breaks, not just that it does
- Keep product goals in view; care about what changes for customers and the business
- Comfortable owning ambiguous problems; can scope work, prioritize what to test first, and recognize when good enough is sufficient
- Clear communicator who can explain findings to engineers, PMs, and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in fintech, banking, or a fast-paced data-led environment is a plus but not required
